Description: Quiet ambient recording in the Hayden Valley of Yellowstone National Park.
Notes: Recorded in the Alum Creek area in the Hayden Valley. This recording is very quiet and almost devoid of animal sounds, illustrating the influence of season and time of day on ambient sound levels and sound character. This was an open meadow near water near a turnout off the main road that runs through the valley. A very quiet fall recording. Occasional traffic, some wind. Temperature 43 degrees Fahrenheit, wind 4-6 mph, humidity 41%. Elevation: 7721 feet. Recording equipment: Sennheiser MKH30 and MKH 40 microphones in a MS configuration to a Sound Devices 722 recorder at a 48 kHz/24 bit sampling rate.
