Description: Mouse vocalizations at the lab of Dr. Robert Sikes, University of Arkansas
Notes: Sounds were recorded in a darkened laboratory in which were numerous northern grasshopper mice in cages; This mouse has a variety of call types, and this recording represents examples of high-pitched pure tone adult calls that typically range from 9 to 14 kHz for this species. See: * Vocalizations of Grasshopper Mice (Genus Onychomys) * Mark S. Hafner and David J. Hafner * Journal of Mammalogy, Vol. 60, No. 1 (Feb., 1979), pp. 85-94 * Published by: American Society of Mammalogists; These high-pitched calls approach the limits of the human hearing range, so some people with high frequency hearing loss may not be able to hear them; Recorded using an Electro Voice RE50 microphone to a Sony DAT Walkman recorder
