Description: Vocalizations of juvenile elk
Notes: A number of juvenile elk were trying to jump over a fence near a picnic area. The group was agitated and ran back and forth for several minutes before eventually jumping the fence, one by one. Conditions at 6:20 AM: Temperature 67 degrees Fahrenheit, wind 3 mph, humidity 50%. According to the National Park Service, "President Theodore Roosevelt established the National Bison Range on May 23, 1908 when he signed legislation authorizing funds to purchase suitable land for the conservation of bison. It was the first time that Congress appropriated tax dollars to buy land specifically to conserve wildlife."
