Description: Calls of a chipping sparrow
Notes: One of 17 call types described in a study published in the journal Ecology by Yvette K. Ortega, Aubree Benson, and Erick Greene in 2014. The article describes how invasive plants can alter the songs of songbirds like chipping sparrows, in this case diminishing song complexity. Chipping sparrows were recorded during breeding season in ponderosa pine/Douglas fir savannas "located at elevations of 1300-1700 meters on steep, south to west-facing slopes on the Lolo National Forest," according to the authors.
