Description: Sparse sounds during an afternoon at the National Bison Range in Montana
Notes: Recorded in the Prairie Creek area of the National Bison Range near Red Sleep Mountain Drive. Animal sounds were very sparse possibly due to drought conditions and diminished vegetation such as grass in the area. There was also a lot of smoke in the air from forest fires in the nearby counties. Conditions were hazy and the smell of smoke was strong. There were more birds and insects calling in a recording made near the same location around the same date (8/30/14) the previous year.
Location: National Bison Range (Montana); Dixon, Montana; Lake County (Montana); Montana
Recording Equipment: Sony PCMD50 recoder with internal microphones in a stereo xy pattern
Duration: 00:05:00
